We’ve been doing some upgrades on the website. You can now find our home page at offroute.ca. All old links will automatically redirect to the new address.
To go along with the new web address, we’ve dropped the Run Out part of our name. On one hand, we’re sad to let go of that little piece of alpine climbing wit, and abandon our alpine climbing roots. But, our stories were never meant to be just about climbing mountains. We are explorers first and foremost, even as we try to divorce the concept of exploration from its historical – colonial – connotations. We seek to explore our limits as athletes, to take the path least followed, to open new paths so that others might follow, or to follow ancient paths and find new understanding. What we seek are not summits, but only the vivid experiences that come from leaving the guidebook behind and stepping into the unknown. Alpinism, ski mountaineering, whitewater rafting, mountain running, bikepacking, and travel are simply (very fun) means to this end.
So, hopefully with our slick new web address we can continue to inspire or entertain. If you’re not already doing so, you can follow our blog to get notified of new posts, by entering your email on the home page. We do a fair bit of self-censorship on this blog, striving to only share our more meaningful stories, and finest photos. So, we’ve also created a sister page on Facebook where we’ll be posting more frequently, sharing more photos, anecdotes from just our ‘average’ weekend getaways, and links to other stories that get us stoked. Please “Like” our page if you’d like to follow the adventure more closely.
Sunshine, summits, and tailwinds,
Skyler and Knut
